SHABBAT SERVICES

Congregation B'nai Israel holds regular Shabbat Services every Friday night and Saturday morning throughout the year. We provide various types of prayer services in order to meet the needs of our diverse community.

Family Services

These services are usually held the first week of every month at 6:00 pm. This is an abbreviated service with a story told by the rabbi followed by a Shabbat potluck dinner. This service is especially appropriate for families with young children and includes a special blessing for everyone celebrating a birthday or wedding anniversary that month.

Gates of Prayers Services

Our regular Shabbat services are held at 7:00 pm on all weeks when there is not a Family Service. Modern liturgy, music and customs characterize the flavor of this inspiring service.

Union Prayer Book Services

These services are held at 5:30 pm once or twice each month and include classical Reform traditions and music provided by a soloist accompanied by our pipe organ.

Shabbat Morning Prayer and Torah Study

This informal minyan meets every Saturday in the Gary J. Weill Youth Lounge at 10:00. This is an opportunity to ask questions about the service and to discuss the weekly Torah portion. Don't miss this intimate and uplifting Jewish experience.

Please check the calendar for detailed information on dates and times of Shabbat Services.

Attire

We welcome all those who want to pray with us on Shabbat. Most people who attend services dress "business casual.”

Rabbi Jordan wears a kippah and tallit.

Kippot (head coverings) and Talesim (prayer shawls) are available as you enter the sanctuary. These are optional and we encourage our members to pray in the manner to which they are accustomed.
